New Year, Same You?

What are you doing to execute on your New Year’s strategy?
As January 1st arrives, that may provide a sense of refresh, excitement, new opportunities for some, or a sense of apprehension or nervousness, for others. You may love the idea of the fresh start, and some may dread it.
Regardless, it is within your control of how to approach 2024 with a renewed vigor for life and your work. The key will be when those people, situations, opportunities, or thoughts come up, how will you handle them? Will you jump through the positive windows, and walk away from the negative traps?
Or will you fall prey for the time suck or distractions of life? Will you ignore the signs and windows, and march on blindly without the big picture in mind?
Do you have those new year goals set? No? Don’t know what to focus on at this stage?

Do you have those new year goals set? No? Don’t know what to focus on at this stage?
BUILD.
Build something, anything, anything that may serve a market, or not. Don’t sit and wait, build. Why you may ask? Because those who take action, go places, those who get in the arena and work on something, increase their odds of making things happen. Build as a creator, don’t just be a creator. Why? Because a lot of people are creating, but do they really build something?
Building requires a different level of work, commitment, and vision. Building takes work towards something of significance in service to others.
Principles
As you build, consider a few principles to keep in mind for how you work with customers, candidates, or colleagues:
Zone of genius - your unique ability
Human first
Response time
Urgency
Internal focused to deliver on external expectations
Customer delivery is the number one priority for the people, with your people being number one for the firm overall
Keep the main thing, the main thing
Simple scales, complex fails
Learning and curiosity
Hire good people and treat them well
Delivering excellence through service for others
Hire and partner with those you want to work with
Find your different
Building with energy in 2024
How do you BUILD with energy in the New Year?
You decide:
What
Why
How
Commit
You build based on what your audience needs, along with what you and your expertise, or learning, can deliver. You identify the best path forward and move. You must commit and act to make it happen. Ideation and planning doesn’t move the needle, doesn’t get your first customer, doesn’t grow your audience, and won’t provide growth through learning. Action leads to learning, and building something based on your progression.
“You cannot separate action from success”
- John Maxwell
Commitment without a “Plan B”, without distractions of new shiny objects, in whatever way you can, based on your own life’s situation; this is a proven recipe for success based on so many examples throughout time.
Don’t miss your window to seize opportunity and growth. And most of all, don’t let another year pass, letting your dreams sit on the sidelines. Choose your path and go.

"Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
