Many times, I take a look back and reflect, whether it be after reading a book, a week, a point in time, or an experience, but I’m looking ahead this week. I’m thinking about the exciting, and uncertainty, that comes from starting something as a pure community with no context, no format, and no structure. Day One of a community or peer group, and the excitement that comes from that is really cool.
Is it a good idea?
Will anyone show up?
Will anyone join as a member?
What kind of impact can we make?
Who can we help?
We’ve had a few show up for the intro sessions, for which I am grateful. I added two more intro events leading up to our first full session to be available for questions. This is one of those times where I’m finding my way with building something.
As we head into this week, we have our first full group session for CHRO/i and I cannot be more excited to get this group together and really start to understand where we’re going to take this peer community. The signs are everywhere for the strength of community and a niche of professionals collaborating for collective growth. Especially with HR. And this community deserves more and customized for what they want. I’m excited to have some small part of the growth of individuals across a discipline or specialty area, and maybe even move the needle on a profession someday.
CHRO/i is about what we can do to move our field forward, each other forward, and ourselves forward, from a positive growth perspective. The best way to learn is often through collaboration and discussion with others not in a bunker on our own. CHRO/i is being built with the input of Human Resources, Talent, Learning & Development, and Organizational Development professionals, to build our community, not any community, but our community.

I’m thrilled to get an opportunity to interact with the greater HR community, and understand how I can facilitate and add value to this peer group community. It’s going to be fun. It’s going to be informative and it’s going to be helpful, as a meaningful step forward for those who would like to join. If now isn’t the right time to join, or you’re in another profession, we’d appreciate you rooting for us from the sidelines.
Please remember this community is for you, and with you, not being dictated to you. This community and peer group is about what we put together. No, this community doesn’t have it all figured out. No, it’s not all set up and perfect. And that’s actually the beauty and power of it- is that it is new and here to shape and inform what’s gonna make it great.
