Community Empowers You, Providing Energy & Information to Keep You Going Along Your Career & Life Journey

What I learned from talking with a supportive professional learning community
Sometimes when you share ideas with others, you can learn so much about yourself and what really gets you excited, what gives you meaning, and what interests you. That feeling of fulfillment and energy. That’s what I experienced recently from talking with TNG (Team Networking Group). I took away so much perspective and clarity from speaking with this group. I was introduced to this group by a former colleague and met with the group’s leader ahead of being invited to speak. It was helpful to speak with him beforehand to see if it’s a good fit and understand how I can add value.
This is a career guidance networking group focused on job search, personal growth, and skill development. This group is a collection of members closer to mid-career level, or at least with some meaningful and valuable experience, knowledge, and perspective. This group is diverse including individuals from various countries, states, demographics, and career journeys.

The biggest surprise for me, was seeing how many were no longer actively seeking a new role, but have stayed engaged with the group, even after finding a new role, or are part of the group to be in the community, and not actively job seeking. That’s when you know you’re on to something. People stay involved even when they don’t necessarily “need” or must stay active, they want to be there and engaged with the group.

This is what I was impressed with and the feeling I had based on my brief time with this group:
Energy
Engagement
Learning culture
Curiosity
Open to new ideas
Care about peers
The power of a supportive and informative community
Whether it’s your job search or if you’re looking for meaningful professional connection, it’s worth the effort and time to find a group that works for you. A community of like-minded professionals who have been there or are also going there will serve you well. This does not mean go join five groups, this means start with one solid group that fits your needs, and go from there.
Community brings something powerful when you find one that works for you. Community doesn't just get built, it is grown from those who invest their time, effort, and energy, showing up, planning, contributing, and engaging.
If you’re looking for support for your job search, or to connect with professionals looking to elevate their skills and network, you can check out TNG here.
